Ensures the safe operation and maintenance of the company’s motor carrier fleets in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, supporting the Logistics business unit’s commitment to continuous safety improvement and regulatory adherence. Maintains expert knowledge of commercial motor vehicle regulations at both federal and state levels, including those set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and the state of Illinois.
Responsibilities include:
Planning and implementing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and programs.
Providing guidance and leadership to employees on various safety-related topics.
Organizing regular educational seminars and webinars.
Reviewing existing policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
Collaborating with HR to establish a new employee onboarding process focused on safety.
Conducting risk assessments and implementing preventative measures.
Identifying and addressing process bottlenecks in a timely manner.
Ensuring employees adhere to rules and regulations.
Monitoring workplace activities to enforce safety protocols.
Investigating accidents and violations, determining root causes, and presenting findings in reports.
Overseeing workplace repairs, installations, and other potentially hazardous activities to ensure employee safety.
